Jammu, May 23: Authorities on Friday clamped curfew in Poonch area of Jammu Division after violence between two communities broke out over a ‘minor issue’, official sources said.
Official sources told that an auto driver identified as Jameel slapped a girl from another community leading to tensions and low intensity violence between the two communities.
“In order to curb violence, District Authorities imposed section 144 strictly and large contingents of government forces were deployed,†an official told. He said curbs were also imposed due to Friday Prayers so that no untoward incident talks place.
However, the curbs were lifted in the evening and situation returned to normal, an official said.Â
