Contribution of P.Os in financial inclusion remarkable: Rather

CHADOORA, (KMW News):– Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather in presence of Chief Post Master General (CPG) of J&K, Mr. John Samuel today inaugurated a modernized post office at Chadoora in Budgam district. He announced that a similar type of modernized post office will also be opened in the historic Chrar-i-Sharief town shortly.

Speaking at a function organized by the Department of Post Offices, Mr. Rather lauded the initiatives of john Sameul for revolutionizing the working of post offices in the State adding that the faith and hope among the people on postal service has once again revived. He said since Sameul took up the charge of post offices in J&K, their working has been re-energized and all the modern facilities have been added to bring a revolution in postal communication system. In this regard, he referred to the Speed Post Service and e-post facilities started in the post office adding that Same Day Delivery within and between the cities of Srinagar and Jammu is a reality now. He said though the internet facilities has not reached to most of the rural areas as yet, which has creating a digital divide but the post offices have bridged this divide by introducing e-post service. He said the speed post service is considered to be the fast, economical and most reliable parcel service with all India coverage and door to door service.
Mr. Rather said that by launching postal savings Scheme, which has remained popular among rural populace since centuries, the DoP has boosted the countrywide campaign regarding financial inclusion for sustained economic growth. He said even a floating post office in world famous Dal Lake has been launched to provide postal service to the Dal dwellers and tourist staying in and around the Dal Lake. He asked the people to avail the facilities available in the post offices and provide their feedback to the concerned officers to overcome shortcomings, if any, in the functioning of the post offices.
In his opening remarks, Mr. John Sameul said that with a view to further improve working conditions of the post office, more educated youth would be engaged in the departments of posts in J&K. He said after completing the modernization process in urban areas, the process has now been shifted towards suburbs so that all the post office in the State are modernized in a phased manner.
Responding to the demands, Mr. Sameul announced a postal van for post office Chadoora so that letters, consignments, parcels and speed post is carried on daily basis from one station to another. He also announced to provide one more post man in the post office Chadoora for speedy postal delivery.
Mr. Sameul while thanking the Minister for inaugurating the post office, described him a dynamic leader with a passion to serve the people and bring all round development in the J&K State. He said Mr. Rather has a vision for the development of the J&K.
