Jammu: Prof. Saifuddin Soz MP (Former Union Minister) & President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee has said that Congress will be a crucial political factor in the politics of Jammu and Kashmir in 2014 assembly elections.
Addressing a large public meeting at Hiranagar in district Kathua, today, Prof. Soz has said that Congress will emerge as a largest political force in the state and will be a crucial factor in the politics of state in 2014 assembly elections. He said that congress is a vibrant organization in all three regions of the state.
Prof. Soz said that people of Kashmir have rejected violence and have joined mainstream in order to ensure peace, development and secure the future of their children. Welcoming the positive change in the mindset of people of Kashmir, he said that it is time to reframe our policies to win the hearts of people to strengthen their belief in democracy. He said that Congress is still in coalition in the state and for the elections in 2014, all decisions would be taken by the party high command in consultation with the rank and file of the party.PCC Chief lauded the efforts of former MLA and Senior Congress leader Shri Girdhari Lal Chalotra for organizing a large rally and also appreciated the efforts of former minister and Vice President PCC Shri Prem Sagar Aziz and other Congress leaders for their support and said that the Congress party will do justice with the different sections of society.With regard to Tehsil status to Ghagwal, Railway stop and issue of different sections would be taken up with the concerned authorities. The issue of border people and refugees of different categories, he announced the constitution of three member committee of the party consisting of S/Shri Madan Lal Sharma-MP, Ravinder Sharma-MLC and S. Manjit Singh, to examine issue of different categories of refugees and submit their report to him (PCC Chief) for taking up the matter with the state government for follow-up action.
With regard to holding of elections to the Block Development Councils, Prof. Soz said that he has discussed the issue of amendment to the State Panchayat Raj Act in the recent Co-ordination Committee meeting and alliance partner will let us know within shortest period of time. He however, emphasized that the elections should be held as early as possible i.e before 30th June, 2013.
