New Delhi, June 10 The Congress on Monday demanded strict action including removal of BJP’s IT cell head Amit Malviya and an independent probe into the matter, after serious allegations of sexual exploitations against him came to light.

Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate said, “Less than 24 hours after the PM has been sworn in, serious charges of sexual allegations have been levelled against a prominent office-bearer of the BJP”.

While accusing the BJP of sheltering the culprits, she demanded immediate removal of Amit Malviya, who holds an influential position in the party, from his position so that an independent probe can take place.

While seeking justice for women in Bengal from the BJP, Shrinate alleged, “The Prime Minister has consistently given political patronage to the perpetrators of crime. It is high time you stand with women. It is high time you stand with the daughter of India and unless and until you do not answer their plight, you have no business to be in power”.

The Congress leader said, “He is the same man who has perpetrated one lie after the other. He has not maintained any decency in public life. He has not even spared India’s first Prime Minister Nehru. He has publicised and maligned Nehru for the images with his sister and his niece”.

She said, “We hoped that the new Minister of Women and Child Development is not going to be a mute bystander to women’s plight. We hope that NCW will find their voice, conscience, and morality and take suo-moto cognisance of this matter”.
