Srinagar: State Congress Chief Prof. Soz today reiterated his stand that the Congress Party was poised to emerge as the largest political force in the State and that he was satisfied that the Party functionaries at all levels would work in total unison to ensure that the Party achieved its set goals.

He (Prof. Soz) said further that cadres should realize, in full measure, the crucial role of Congress Party in respect of maintaining integrity of the state, balanced economic development as an effective instrument of service to the people
Prof. Saifuddin Soz, today arrived to a rousing reception at the airport on his arrival from Delhi today. Prof. Soz was then taken in an impressive procession to the Party Headquarters where thousands of Party cadres welcomed him with great enthusiasm. This was Prof. Soz’s first visit to Kashmir after having been re-nominated as President, J&K PCC for another term.
“The Party leaders spoke with enthusiasm and praised Prof. Soz for his dedicated services to the Congress Party and his qualities of leadership. The senior Party leaders echoed the feelings of Party cadres and said that Prof. Soz had rejuvenated the Congress Party in the Kashmir Valley also, in the best possible manner and made it a factor to be reckoned with in Kashmir politics”, said a statement issued here.
“The Party cadres assured Prof. Soz that they would work hard under his leadership and Congress Party would be able to prove its mettle in the days to come. At the very outset Prof. Soz told the cadres that he was grateful to Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Hon’ble Congress President; Dr. Manmohan Singh, Hon’ble Prime Minister; and Shri Rahul Gandhi, Vice-President, AICC for reposing trust in him”, it added..
In the midst of a thunderous applause of the cadres, Prof. Soz said that he would redouble his efforts to reach the Party cadres at all levels and try to solve the problems identified by them. Prof. Soz expressed great satisfaction that the Party’s organizational units were working dedicatedly at all levels and the Congress Party was in good shape to face the challenges in future.
He urged the Party cadres to get closer to the people and help them to the best of their ability to solve their problems. He also urged them to be ready for participating in the elections to the Local Bodies and the remaining two segments of Panchayats.
Prof. Soz further observed that there was a discernible change in Kashmir; as violence as an instrument for settling political problems had been rejected by the people. It was, therefore, an imperative for all the stakeholders to realize that the dispensation of reaching the people has to change qualitatively for better, and, that too in foreseeable future.
He (Prof. Soz) announced that J&K PCC would institute a Grievances Redressal Department and try its utmost to reach the people in their hour of need.
