Cold revists Kashmir, snowfall in upper reaches

Srinagar: Cold wave conditions revisited Kashmir valley as the supper reaches experienced fresh snowfall while plains, including Srinagar, had rains accompanied by snow, droping the temperature-considerably.
The authorities, meanwhile have issued avalanche threat in higher reaches following fresh snowfall.
The upper reaches in the Kashmir valley experienced fresh snowfall yesterday.
The ski resort was coldest in the Kashmir valley after the minimum dipped to minus 5.6 degree Celsius this morning against yesterday’s minus 1.6 degree.
The world famous ski resort of Gulmarg and other heights in the north Kashmir had fresh snowfall.
The holy Amarnath cave shrine and its periphery experienced heavy snowfall while reports of moderate to heavy snowfall were also received from Sheshnag, Mahaguns, Pisso top and Panjterni on traditional pilgrimage route.
However, Pahalgam, base camp of holy Amarnath, recorded 51.6 mm rainfall till 0800 hrs after the minimum temperature dipped to 0.4 degree against 4.4 degree yesterday.
The other upper reaches in south and central Kashmir also experienced fresh snowfall.
