Srinagar: Cold is back in the Kashmir valley, where more rain and thundershowers could occur during the next 24 hours.
The world famous ski resort of Gulmarg, where t
he minimum dropped to four notches below normal, was colder than Leh and Kargil in Ladakh region.
A Met department spokesman said rain and thundershowers would occur at a few places over the Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
He said there should be no major change during subsequent two days.
Because of intermittent rains during the past 24 hours the minimum was below normal in most parts of the valley.
Gulmarg in north Kashmir, where 11.6 mm rainfall was experienced till 0830 hrs, recorded 3 degrees minimum temperature this morning.
At Pahalgam, the base camp of the Holy Amarnath cave shrine, where the annual pilgrimage is scheduled to start from June 25, recorded 6.6 degrees minimum temperature against yesterdays 8.2 degrees.
The night temperature elsewhere in the valley was also below normal because of rains.
The Met spokesman said the summer capital, Srinagar, experienced 7.2mm rainfall till this morning resulting in 3 degrees drop in the minimum temperature against yesterday when it was 14.2 degrees.
The sky remained cloudy today after bright sunshine in the morning for few hours.
