CM orders release of Rs. 85.50 lakh ex gratia to compensate flood victims

JAMMU, MARCH 24(KMW): Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today ordered release of an amount of Rs. 85.50 lakh as ex gratia relief in favour of the remaining persons who were missing, dead or seriously injured during September 2014 floods. The money has been credited to from out of the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund to the Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund for onward disbursement to the affected people.
An official spokesman today stated that the funds have been transferred electronically to the Divisional Commissioners of Kashmir and Jammu for onward distribution to the Next of Kin (NoK) of 37 deceased and 23 seriously injured persons.
While Rs. 62.00 lakh shall be given to the NoK of 27 dead and 16 seriously injured persons in Jammu Division, an amount of Rs. 23.50 lakh shall be provided to NoK of 10 dead and 7 seriously injured persons in Kashmir Division.
The NoK of those persons who died in the floods will get Rs. 2.00 lakh each as compensation while those seriously injured will be paid Rs. 50,000 each, the spokesman added.
