JAMMU, FEBRUARY 10: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today rebutted remarks made by an opposition legislator in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly regarding the proposed ropeway at the Katra Shrine, stating that no approval has been granted by the Council of Ministers for the Mata Vaishno Devi ropeway project.
The Chief Minister made the statement prior to the start of Question Hour, responding to the BJP MLA from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, who suggested that a Cabinet decision had been taken regarding the ropeway project at the Katra Shrine.
“There was talk going on with respect to a ropeway at Katra that the Council of Ministers has agreed to it. However, there is no approval from the Council of Ministers on this and the same was granted much before the formation of the popular Government” the Chief Minister told the House.
Reiterating that the Cabinet had not taken any decision on the matter, the Chief Minister, who is also the Leader of the House, said, “There is no approval from the Cabinet in this. Mr. Speaker, I would like to set the record straight in this House.”
