CM launches Radio-Taxi in Srinagar

CS reviews hi-tech facility at Nowgam.

SRINAGAR: The Hi-tech Radio Taxi initiative was launched by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah at a function here on Wednesday.
Various Ministers and senior officers were present at the launching ceremony.
Later, Chief Secretary Madhav Lal accompanied by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Asgar Samoon, District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Baseer Ahmad Khan and other officers visited the facility developed at Tourist Reception Centre, Nowgam to operationalize first of its kind Hi-tech Radio Taxi fleet in Srinagar. The Radio-Taxi is being provided by a private operator.
The initiative has been launched to facilitate local commuters and Tourists and to help smoothen the transport system. In the first instance a fleet of 100 taxies has been introduced which will be increased gradually. The Hi-tech taxies will be operated by well trained drivers and the service will be available round the clock. These taxies will be available on call at Telephone No. 0194 2432432 and can also be hired through on-line booking. Each taxi is fitted with on road electronic billing system, GPS tracking system, route verification system, in Cab security and card payment system and will remain connected with the master control room.
