CM chairs maiden meeting of Council of Ministers

JAMMU, MARCH 02(KMW): Saying to make State your constituency, Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, today urged upon the Council of Ministers to work for rebuilding the system, restoring the credibility and ensuring accountability in the governance.

The Chief Minister said this in the maiden meeting of Council of Ministers which was held here today under his chairmanship at Civil Secretariat.
Addressing the Ministers, the Chief Minister maintained that “we have to fulfil the aspirations of the common masses for which they have given us a mandate for deliverance. Listing the priorities of the Government, the Chief Minister said the main focus of the Government should be on reviving the defunct institutions and restoration of their credibility as per the aspirations of the people. The J&K State would not move ahead until we bring accountability, transparency in governance”, maintained the Chief Minster.
Mufti said that it is not a partisan coalition but a coalition of hope, reconciliation and opportunity which shall focus on removing the trust deficit between State and rest of the country. He said that the national interest and interest of people of State shall be supreme and party interest will always come second. He said the Government will work for promoting understanding and emotional integrity among the regions and the communities of the State which is the primary agenda of the coalition.
Chief Minister said that he himself shall work as a head of the family where everybody shall have the equal opportunities as we shall have to work for the welfare of the people of the State as a whole. Referring to his previous tenure as a Chief Minister, he said he ensured equitable development of all regions of the State and present government is committed to carry forward the same. He said that the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of the coalition is a guideline for the governance and it is its duty to implement it judiciously to fulfil the aspirations of the people of the State.
Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said that although it is natural to have party loyalties yet, we shall have to work as a team to achieve the goal set for ourselves as reflected in Common Minimum Programme. He said that PDP and BJP have decided to join consciously and with conviction to come together to bring out the State out of uncertainty and put it on the path of peace and prosperity which have been evading the State for long. He further expressed hope that all the Ministers would focus on the problems of the people of entire state besides concentrating on their own constituencies.
Saying that the State has available dedicated, sincere and honest human resources in all the departments, Chief Minister said that time has come to make optimum use their services for the betterment of the people of the State. He said to eradicate the corruption at the grassroots level, the onus lies on the integrity of decisions making from top to bottom. He said that “we have to work entirely to eradicate this menace from the society”.
The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh stressed on Government’s commitment to ensure the good governance for the betterment of the people and eradicating the menace of corruption from its roots. He further said that Common Minimum Programme (CMP) is guideline for the Council of Ministers, to achieve the developmental goals of the Government for which they have to strive hard.
Dr. Singh expressed confidence that both the constituents of the Government will function in complete harmony and bring a new sense of justice fair play to residence of all regions, to restore the confidence of the people in the system.
