Kargil, Jan 11: The 8-day skiing course, which commenced on 4th January 2025 concluded today with a grand closing ceremony at Beuru Khar Namsuru .The event celebrated the successful training of 24 participants including 11 girls and 13 boys under the expert guidance of the instructors from the Ladakh Ski and Snowboard Association (LSSA).
During the course, participants were trained in basic skiing skills providing them with a strong foundation for advancing in winter sports.
The closing ceremony was honored by the presence of Tahir Hussain Zubdavi as the chief guest, while Tehsildar Taisuru was the guest of honour. Distinguished guests included BDO Taisuru, SHO Panikhar and ZPEO along with an enthusiastic crowd of locals and youth from Namsuru.
A key highlight of the event was the skiing demonstration by participants, who showcased techniques such as the snowplough turn parallel turn and ski mountaineering skills earning admiration from the audience.
On the concluding day, the top three performers in both boys’ and girls’ categories were recognized and awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes Additionally, Councillors from Parkachik and Team LSSA presented mementos to the esteemed guests as a gesture of appreciation.
The chief guest, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi lauded the efforts of the snow ski team for their dedication and hard work in successfully conducting the 8-day skiing course. He also expressed his gratitude to Councillor Parkachik for his valuable contribution in transforming Suru into a world-class adventure destination for both summer and winter activities.
The event concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Sadiq Ali Ski Instructor, who acknowledged the invaluable support of the guests, Councillor Aga Ainul Huda the youth, volunteers from Namsuru, and the dedicated team of the Ladakh Ski and Snowboard Association whose combined efforts ensured the success of the event.
