Jammu October 6: The Civil Society R.S.Pura, Jammu held a large protest demonstration demanding immediate and unconditional release of the prominent environmentalist, Sonam Wangchuk detained at Jodhpur Jail (Rajasthan) under the infamous Draconian Law called National Security Act (NSA). Kishor Kumar, Chairman, S. Ravinder Singh, Vice Chairman: Ch. Mohan Kisan Leader, Civil Society R.S.Pura condemned his illegal detention and said that the fault of the environmentalist was that he simply demanded protection of land and jobs for the native Ladakhis, Statehood with Legislature. Sixth Schedule, Constitution of the Public Service Commission etc. and organised public opinion on these issues. The BJP- led authoritarian Union Government which used to appreciate and highlight the role of Sonam Wangchuk during the tussle with China at Galwan Ladakh when the environmentalist gave a call for boycotting of the Chinese products. Now, when he talks of the rights of his people, he is labelled as anti-national, which exhibits nothing but utter frustration of the powers at Delhi, who instead of involving the leadership of Ladakh into meaningful negotiations have opened fire on the demonstrators, killing four persons, injuring dozens and detaining many people unabatedly.

Article 370 and 35-A was, in fact, the offshoot of the State Subject Law enacted by Maharaja Hari Singh in 1927 and 1932 which prohibited the people outside the erstwhile Jammu Kashmir State to purchase land and apply for jobs in J&K which worked as a cushion for the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh as far as the land and job protections are concerned, he added. Though the Jammuities and Ladakhis at the time of abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A on August 2019 celebrated the decision and now they are feeling deceived and betrayed. The leadership of the entire Ladakh is now feeling that abrogation of the Articles has damaged the interest of the people at large. The demonstrators demanded immediate release of Sonam Wangchuk, constitution of the judicial probe into the killings of the agitators, holding unconditional dialogue with the entire leadership of Ladakh to address the issues before it is too late.Among others. Sub Bawa Ram, Comrade Mandev Singh. Comrade. Daljeet Singh, Sh. Tilak Raj, Sh. Girdhari Lal, Sh. Bodh Raj. Sh. Jeet Raj, Sh. Om Parkash Khajuria senior leaders of the Civil Society also addressed the demonstration.
