Srinagar: Christmas, the birthday of Jesus Christ, was Saturday celebrated across the Kashmir Valley with enthusiasm and religious fervour.
Scores of Christians gathered here at Holy Family Catholic Church and joined the special prayers.
People including women and children thronged the church, decorated with colourful buntings and balloons, throughout the day.
“Special Prayers were made for peace and prosperity of Kashmir,” father John told.
Besides, Holy Family Catholic Church at Moulana Azad Road here, people also thronged St Luke’s church and All Saints’ church in the city to offer the prayers since early morning.
Many Muslims greeted their Christian brethren outside the Church on the occasion.
Reports of Christmas celebration was also received from Baramulla where small Christian community gathered held at St. Joseph’s Church, the oldest Catholic Church in Jammu and Kashmir.
