Chief Secretary reviews Durbar Move arrangements

JAMMU, APRIL 20: Chief Secretary B R Sharma on Thursday reviewed the Annual Durbar Move arrangements from Jammu to Summer capital Srinagar here at a high level meeting.

Financial Commissioner, Planning and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, B B Vyas, Principal Secretary, Home, R K Goyal, Director General of Police, S P Vaid and senior officers were present in the meeting.

The offices observing 5 day week shall close on April 28 and those observing 6 day week shall close at Jammu on April 29. All the offices shall open in Srinagar on May 8, 2017.

It was informed in the meeting that adequate number of trucks and buses shall be deployed for ferrying official records and employees on April 29th and 30th and May 6th and 7th. Only one way traffic from Jammu towards Srinagar will be allowed to ply during these 4 days.

Chief Secretary instructed for putting in place all necessary measures including security escort to ensure smooth movement of durbar move vehicles upto their respective destinations. He instructed that extra buses and trucks be kept available during the move days, while adequate number of cranes, mobile workshops, recovery vans, medical mobile teams, ambulances/medical aid facilities be deployed en-route along with necessary equipments and staff to meet any exigency.

The Chief Secretary also instructed BEACON, SAMPARK and NHAI authorities to ensure good condition of Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, especially at vulnerable spots during the move days.

He asked Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department to issue temporary ration cards and gas connections to move employees for their Srinagar stay and ensure timely supply of rations besides sanitation, availability of electricity and potable drinking water in all residential colonies of the move employees.

Chief Secretary also asked concerned officers of the Estates department and Srinagar Municipal Corporation to inspect employees residential colonies and ensure that necessary facilities were put in place including cleaning up water storage tanks and launching an intensive sanitation drives in all colonies.
