Leh, 21 February 2026: The Chief Secretary of UT-Ladakh, Shri Ashish Kundra, during his tour to the Zanskar sub-division, today interacted with public representatives of Singe Lalok at Nyerak Bridge.
The meeting witnessed active participation from Nambardars and representatives of various villages in the Singe Lalok region, who apprised the Chief Secretary of key developmental issues and long-pending demands concerning their areas.
During the interaction, the delegation raised the issue of road alignment in Yulchung village, requesting the necessary intervention to ensure safer, more feasible connectivity. They also stressed the urgent need to strengthen Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) connectivity to improve telecommunication and internet services in these remote villages, which are crucial for education, healthcare, and administrative services.
The representatives further demanded the construction of a community gathering hall at Lingshed to facilitate social, cultural, and official programmes. Improvement of link roads and blacktopping of roads in Skumpata village were also highlighted to ensure smooth transportation, particularly during winter months.
The delegation emphasised the need for reliable bus connectivity in the Singe Lalok region to ease travel hardships faced by residents. They also urged ensuring all-time connectivity through the NPD road, which remains vital for uninterrupted access to essential services and movement of goods and people throughout the year.
In addition, the representatives proposed constructing an Ice Hockey rink and a Futsal ground to promote sports infrastructure and provide constructive engagement opportunities for local youth.
Chief Secretary Ashish Kundra gave a patient hearing to all the issues raised and assured the delegation that their concerns would be examined in coordination with the concerned departments. He reiterated the UT Administration’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure, improving digital and road connectivity, and promoting youth development in remote and far-flung areas.
Accompanying the Chief Secretary, Ashish Kundra, during the visit were the Deputy Commissioner, Romil Singh Donk; ASP (HQ) Leh, Rishab Shukla; officers from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO); Heads of Departments; and other concerned officials.
