Leh, January 15, 2026: The Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Shri Ashish Kundra, today chaired the 5th meeting of the UT Ladakh Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) at Leh.

During the meeting, the Forest Department made a detailed presentation on the status of the Annual Plan of Operations (APO), including the release of funds, utilisation, and spillover works under CAMPA. The progress achieved during the previous financial year was reviewed in detail, with a focus on implementation outcomes and challenges faced in the execution of approved activities.

The meeting also deliberated on the proposed Annual Plan of Operations (APO) for 2026–27 for the Forest and Wildlife Divisions of Leh and Kargil. Key proposals related to afforestation, forest conservation, wildlife protection, and ecological restoration were discussed.

The Chief Secretary took stock of the achievements of the previous year, emphasised the need for the timely execution of approved works, and directed the relevant departments to ensure the optimal utilisation of CAMPA funds.

He also urged them for a more imaginative approach for high impact projects including eco tourism, afforestation and creation of information for eco tourism enthusiasts. He urged the department to create a plan which has greater community involvement in conservation and eco tourism development.

He also stressed strengthening monitoring mechanisms and maintaining transparency in fund utilisation to achieve tangible environmental outcomes in the Union Territory.

The department would rework the proposals and bring them afresh in a week.
