Mumbai: Union Home Minister P Chidambaram rushed to the city for on the spot assessment of the triple blasts which hit the city last evening leaving 21 dead and 141 injured. He was accompanied by Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and newly-appointed MoS from Mumbai, Milind Deora, and other high-ranking Home Department and police officials. Mr Chidambaram was briefed about the blasts and the casualties by officials at Opera House, shortly after his arrival here last night. Earlier, the Centre rushed a six-member National Investigation Agency team to assist Maharashtra police in the investigations into
the blasts. The NIA team along with a team of Central Forensics Sciences
Laboratory from New Delhi would assist Mumbai police and other
agencies. Former Deputy Prime Minister and senior BJP leader L K Advani
is expected to visit the city today.
