‘Directs for specialized treatment to ailing children’
SRINAGAR: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports Mr. R. S. Chib today directed the hospital administration of G B Pant Hospital to provide specialized treatment to the children suffering from various ailments round the clock ensuring adequate treatment through latest equipments with special care in respect of hygiene and health.
The Minister was on visit of the hospital to take stock of the functioning of the prime childcare health institution.
During the visit, the Minister went round various wards including Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU), Emergency and other wards.
Interacting with the attendants, Mr. Chib said that Janani Shishu Sureksha Yojana (JSSY) is in vogue in the hospital under which the mother and her newly born baby would get free of cost medicines and medical investigations for one month during hospitalization. He said that adequate Pediatricians and specialists are being deployed for further strengthening the Pediatric unit of the hospital. He said that the Government under the dynamic stewardship of Chief Minister is committed to provide basic amenities especially better healthcare facilities to the people of the state and hoped that everything would be set right. He said that 24 hour ambulance service is available in the hospital for the facility of the people.
The Minister also took stock of the pace of renovation works under execution in the hospital and directed the Medical Superintendent to accelerate the pace of renovation on toilet blocks, laying of tiles at main threshold, laying of carpet in the attendants’ room, sanitation and general cleanliness of the wards and other sections of the hospital for the convenience of people visiting the hospital.
Later, the Minister chaired the meeting of officers and got the first hand appraisal of the functioning of the hospital. He asked the concerned for properly maintaining the record with regard to expenditures incurred under JSSY.
Medical Superintendent GB Pant Hospital, Dr. Muneer Masoodi apprised the Minister that 800 patients in Out-Patient Department (OPD) and over 60 In-Patients Department (IPD) are being treated at daily basis in the hospital. He said that about 16 doctors including specialists and house surgeons are working round the clock for providing medical facilities to the patients.
