Kashmir is all set to witness changes in interlocution with new Interlocutor to be appointed over the next few days.
Sources told KMW, as current Interlocutor with Dineshwar Sharma’s term coming to an end, a new Interlocutor would be appointed over the next few days before the conclusion of Amarnath Yatra.
Scores of names have been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office for further consideration.
Top sources state that there was a security threat to the Amarnath Yatra and therefore the government thought it best to give an extension to Dineshwar Sharma. But now it is exploring other options of roping in someone who has handled Kashmir
Dineshwar Sharma has however refused to comment on the matter when contacted by KMW.
After the Jammu and Kashmir government was dissolved in July, Interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma was given an extension till the end of Amarnath Yatra.
Many see the move as a step towards a possible start of dialogue with Hurriyat leadership, the indication of which was given by the Governor Satyapal Malik.
Pertinently, the state has been under Governor’s Rule ever since BJP pulled out of its coalition with the PDP on June 20, soon after which Mehbooba Mufti quit as the chief minister.
