CEC Kargil visits Matayeen Drass to meet families affected by recent fire incident

Kargil, February 02, 2025: Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, along with Councillor Bhimabat Drass, Abdul Wahid, and SDM Drass, visited Matayeen Drass to meet the families affected by the recent fire incident.

The CEC assured them that all necessary assistance would be provided by LAHDC Kargil to support the affected families.

During the visit, Dr. Akhoon also inspected the Zojila Pass and reviewed the current status of the road. He appreciated the relentless efforts of BRO teams, including Project Vijayak and Beacon, for their hard work in maintaining the pass. He assured that every effort would be made to keep Zojila Pass open for an extended period this winter, depending on weather conditions.

Dr. Akhoon further stated that Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Dr. B.D. Mishra, is committed to the region’s development and is focused on ensuring the long-term accessibility of Zojila Pass during the winter season. He reaffirmed that LAHDC Kargil remains dedicated to the developmental progress of Kargil district.
