CEC Kargil Meets J&K Chief Minister in Jammu; Discusses Issues of Mutual Interest

Jammu, January 6, 2026: The Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today met the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Omar Abdullah, at Jammu and held detailed discussions on issues of mutual interest concerning the people of Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir.

During the interaction, the Hon’ble CEC highlighted the concerns of students from Ladakh seeking admission in educational institutions of Jammu & Kashmir, and stressed the importance of continued cooperation to support their academic future. The Hon’ble Chief Minister assured full cooperation and extended all possible support in this regard.

The Hon’ble CEC also raised issues related to Ladakhi colonies in Jammu & Kashmir, particularly the need for basic civic amenities and essential facilities for the residents. The Hon’ble Chief Minister responded positively and assured that necessary steps would be taken to address these concerns.

Later, the Hon’ble CEC separately met the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of J&K, Shri Surinder Kumar Choudhary; Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Nasir Aslam Wani; and MLA Zadibal, Shri Tanvir Sadiq, and exchanged views on various matters concerning public welfare and regional development.

The Hon’ble CEC also met the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Education, Health & Medical Education, Ms. Sakina Itoo, and discussed the issue of lecturers’ One Time Exemption (OTE). The Hon’ble Minister responded positively and assured that the issue would be examined at the earliest.

The meetings reflected a shared commitment to working together for the welfare, development, and well-being of the people of Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir.
