CEC Kargil Lauds Poyen School Upgradation, Announces Fair Teacher Transfer Policy & Infrastructural Funds

Kargil, November 04: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, attended the Annual Day celebration of Government PM Shri Higher Secondary School Poyen today.

The event was graced by Executive Councillor Zakir Hussain, Administrative Secretary, School Education, UT Ladakh, Ms. Bhanu Prabha, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Councilor Poyen, DYSP Kargil, Principal DIET Kargil, Village Education Committee members, parents, and students.

In his address, CEC Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon congratulated the students, parents, and staff for successfully organizing the Annual Day celebration and for the upgradation of the school from a High School to a Higher Secondary School. He appreciated the tireless efforts of EC Zakir Hussain, then Commissioner Secretary Sanjeev Khirwar, and former CEO Namgyal for their contributions in achieving this milestone.

The CEC shared that he personally met the Advisor to Education, Government of India and her team of Samagra Shiksha twice to pursue the upgradation proposal—an effort that has now yielded positive results.

Dr. Akhoon urged parents to ensure maximum enrollment of students in government schools, emphasizing that strong enrollment will further strengthen the education system. He highlighted that many young, talented, and qualified individuals are now joining the education sector as teachers, which has created a positive academic environment in government schools.

He noted that today’s government schools are well-equipped with modern facilities, improved infrastructure, and highly qualified teaching staff.

Regarding the teacher transfer policy, the CEC informed that LAHDC Kargil has formulated a comprehensive and transparent transfer policy to be implemented from next academic  session ensuring fairness and efficiency.

Dr. Akhoon also praised the developmental progress of Poyen constituency under the leadership of Councilor Mohd Amin, acknowledging advancements across multiple sectors. Addressing some infrastructural needs of the school, he assured that funds from his untied budget will be allocated for the iron railing of the building’s ground floor.

Speaking on the occasion, EC Zakir Hussain congratulated the school community for organizing the Annual Day and encouraged Village Committee members to play an active role in the school’s growth and to promote higher enrollment. He also announced the upgradation of Beathang Shilkchey Middle School to a High School, reaffirming LAHDC Kargil’s commitment under the leadership of Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon to strengthen the district’s education system.

Ms. Bhanu Prabha, Administrative Secretary, School Education, UT Ladakh, announced that the newly upgraded Higher Secondary School Poyen will become fully functional in the upcoming working season with the deployment of subject teachers and a well-equipped science laboratory.

She added that PM Shri Schools receive special packages aimed at holistic school development, including vocational courses, sports, music, and dance training, ensuring the overall personality development of students.

The event concluded with vibrant cultural performances by students, followed by a prize distribution ceremony to honor students for their excellence in academics and co-curricular activities.
