CEC Kargil, Dr Akhoon inspects various ongoing developmental works

Kargil, February 18: Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today inspected various ongoing developmental works in the district.

The CEC was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil; Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, Ladakh; Executive Engineer R&B; Tehsildar Kargil; Councillor Abdul Wahid and Alfat Hussain besides other concerned officers.

CEC Kargil inspected various sports infrastructure facilities at Kurbathang, including the AstroTurf football ground and synthetic track. The concerned officer informed him that the total cost of the project is approximately Rs 18.2144 crore.

The officer also informed Dr. Akhoon that the ground is complete, except the pavilion. The CEC directed Executive Engineer of R&B to complete the pavilion work at the earliest. He also instructed Joint Director Youth Services and Sports to facilitate matches for the football teams.

The CEC Kargil also inspected the International Ice Hockey Rink and appreciated the officers for the quality of work being executed. He was informed that the total cost of the rink is Rs 37.974 crore, and almost all works have been completed, except the installation of the chilling machines.

Dr. Akhoon directed R&B Dept. to temporarily maintain the flooring of the rink and provide the provision of lights at the earliest to enable the start of matches for ice hockey teams. CEC Kargil also mentioned that, if required, he would allocate funds from the CAPEX budget for the maintenance of the ground.

At Shelter Home for recovered children (who had been missing) constructed at a cost of Rs 1.68 crore, the concerned officer informed the CEC that almost 100% of the work has been completed, except for some miscellaneous works, which will be finished soon.

CEC Kargil also inspected the ongoing works at 300 bedded Girls and Old Age Home site at Kurbathang.

Dr. Akhoon also visited the Ice Hockey Rink in Biamathang, where he stressed the need to extend the seating capacity for spectators. The Joint Director informed the CEC that the DPR for the construction of the pavilion has been submitted, along with other necessary arrangements for the maintenance of the ice hockey rink.

CEC Kargil said that the Hon’ble LG of Ladakh is focused on the development of sports infrastructure in the district. He directed all officers to uphold high standards in construction and not to compromise on the quality of materials.

Later, Dr. Akhoon visited District Hospital Kargil and inspected the construction site of MRI room, prayer room and pre-fabricated attendant shelter.

CEC was informed that the DPR for the prayer room had been submitted. He was also informed that the construction work of MRI room is at the completion stage. He directed to equip the attendant shelter with basic amenities like electricity and water.

Dr Akhoon also directed the Project Director, Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA) to install four solar street lights at various locations within the vicinity of the hospital at the earliest. The CEC also said that he will spare some budget for the high mask solar lights for untied budget.
