CEC Kargil Attends Annual Day Celebration at Government High School Lalung

Kargil, December 06, 2025: The Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today attended the Annual Day Celebration of Government High School Lalung as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble CEC congratulated the students, parents, teachers and the Village Education Committee for their continuous cooperation and support, which has significantly contributed to strengthening the school’s academic environment. He appreciated the dedication and sincerity of the teachers in delivering quality education at the grassroots level.

Reiterating his commitment to supporting educational institutions in Kargil, the Hon’ble CEC highlighted that an amount of Rs 2 lakh had been provided earlier this year during the students’ summer exposure tour. He expressed satisfaction that the funds had been utilised effectively by the Headmaster to address essential school requirements.

Speaking on the importance of education, Dr. Jaffer Akhoon emphasised that education not only shapes character but also instills purpose, responsibility and compassion. He stated that education must inspire students to contribute positively to society, rather than serving merely as a route to employment.

He appreciated the commitment of social workers and volunteers who work tirelessly to uplift rural communities and support youth development.

Former CEC and Councillor, Silmo Constituency, Feroz Ahmad Khan, also addressed the gathering. He encouraged students, parents and VEC members to remain actively engaged in strengthening the school ecosystem. He further assured that the memorandum submitted by the Headmaster would be duly considered and addressed at the earliest.

The event concluded with cultural performances and the distribution of awards to meritorious students.

The event was also attended by former Executive Councillor, Aga Syed Abass; DEPO Kargil; Principal, Government Higher Secondary School Silmo; Headmaster, Government High School Chulichan; Director of HHEDA (NGO); members of the Village Education Committee (VEC); parents and students.
