Kargil, January 17: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today visited Delhi Haat INA where he was warmly received by Assistant Director Handicrafts, Kargil, Rehamtullah Bhat.

During the visit, Dr. Akhoon interacted with artisans from Leh and Kargil participating in the ongoing exhibition. He inquired about their stay, accommodation and food arrangements, ensuring their well-being throughout the event.

The CEC expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the Hon’ble Lieutenent Governor of UT Ladakh and UT Ladakh Administration for providing this platform to the artisans. He praised the initiative for offering artisans exposure to a wider market, aiding in the sale of their crafts and supporting their livelihoods.

He said the Hill Council Kargil continues to support artisans through subsidy components and the provision of essential machinery and equipment and assured to maintain these efforts in the future.

Dr. Akhoon emphasized the importance of such exhibitions in preserving Ladakh’s rich cultural and artistic heritage. He acknowledged their role in enhancing the socio-economic standing of local artisans, enabling them to thrive in competitive markets while showcasing Ladakh’s unique crafts to a global audience.

He encouraged them to remain steadfast in their craft, highlighting that their creativity and hard work not only sustain traditions but also bring pride to the region.
