CEC Dr Jaffer Akhoon reviews arrangements for Losar Festival

Kargil, Dec 23: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for the upcoming Losar festival in the district.

The meeting focused on ensuring smooth and festive celebration of the occasion, with emphasis on uninterrupted essential services and necessary facilities to the public.

All Executive Councillors of LAHDC, Kargil, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, SDMs of Drass, Shakar Chiktan, and the in-charge SDM of Zanskar (joined virtually), as well as officers from departments, including Animal Husbandry, Cooperatives, Tourism, PHE, Health, Information and other allied departments attended the meeting . The President of the Buddhist Association was also present in the meeting. 

During the meeting, the CEC directed the concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted essential services for the public during the festival. He specifically instructed PDD to extend the power supply in Zanskar by an additional two hours to accommodate festive requirements.

The Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department was instructed to ensure the availability of essential rations for the public, while the Cooperative Department was directed to maintain ample stock of essential items and provide them at discount rates during the Losar festival.

Dr. Akhoon also instructed departments such as Tourism, PHE, Animal Husbandry and Health to make necessary arrangements, as per past practices, to ensure a well-coordinated and vibrant festival celebration.

Later, Executive Councillor, Er. Punchok Tashi extended his gratitude to the CEC and the district administration for their approach and keen interest in addressing public concerns at both the district and sub-divisional levels.
