CEC Dr Jaffer Akhoon flags off school students on exposure tour

Kargil, January 12, 2025: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today flagged off an exposure tour outside UT Ladakh for the students of Government PM SHRI Higher Secondary School, Bhimbet, Kargil, under the PM SHRI AWP&B 2025–26.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by Secretary, School and Higher Education, UT Ladakh, Ms. Bhanu Prabha; Councillor Abdul Wahid; Director School Education Ladakh, Mr. Tsering Paldan; Director Tsering Kunzes; CEO Kargil, along with students, parents, and escort teachers.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jaffer Akhoon congratulated the students for receiving this valuable opportunity in their academic journey. CEC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon thanked Prime Minister and Education Minister of India for putting all efforts to enhance education system of India. CEC Kargil also appreciated the efforts of the LG Ladakh, Secretary School Education, Director School Education, CEO Kargil, and the entire School Education Department for making all necessary arrangements for the tour.

The CEC stated that such exposure tours play a vital role in broadening students’ horizons by enabling them to experience cultures beyond their own and understand the rich cultural diversity of India. He described the students as ambassadors of Kargil and UT Ladakh and advised them to represent their culture and identity in a positive and dignified manner.

Dr. Akhoon further encouraged the students to learn from the exposure tour and apply their experiences in their respective lives. Wishing them success, he expressed hope that the tour would be a meaningful and enriching learning experience.

Under the PM SHRI Scheme, a total of 7 batches comprising 414 students and 29 escort teachers (443 participants) have been approved for the exposure tours during 2025–26. The students will be visiting Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Jodhpur.

The last batch includes 57 students accompanied by 4 escort teachers. The tour has been duly approved under PM SHRI AWP&B 2025–26.
