Kargil, April 29: Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today distributed Senior Citizen Cards at Council Secretariat, Kargil.

Executive Councillor, Social Welfare Syed Mujtaba, EC Revenue Kacho Mohd Feroz, EC RDD Er. Punchok Tashi, Director Social Welfare, Tashi Dolma, Incharge District Social Welfare/Joint Director Planning, Abdul Hadi, Accounts Officer, Social Welfare, Mohd Hussain, Councillor Parkachik, along with several senior citizens were present.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Akhoon highlighted the various benefits associated with the Senior Citizen Card, including access to government welfare schemes and priority services.

Appreciating the initiative, the CEC assured continued efforts from LAHDC to enhance welfare measures for the elderly. He further proposed working towards a 50% concession in local bus fares for senior citizens to ease of mobility and respect for the elderly.

Director Social Welfare, Tashi Dolma also spoke on the occasion and elaborated on the department’s initiatives, including the establishment of a day care center for senior citizens. She commended the efforts of District Social Welfare Office in implementing citizen-centric schemes effectively. Later, Senior Citizen Cards and Yato Kits distributed to students of Bal Ashram.
