Kargil, Jan 25: Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today attended the book launch ceremony of Kalam-i-Shina and Bazm-i-Shina, authored by Yaseen Ansari.

The event was attended by Councilor, Altaf Hussain, Chief Medical Officer Kargil, Padma Shree Awardee Akhoon Asgar Ali Basharat, President Hotel Association Kargil, writers and poets from Shina, Balti and Purgi besides a larger number of residents were present.

Speaking on the occasion, the CEC on behalf of Hill Council Kargil, congratulated Yaseen Ansari for his contribution to Shina literature and language.

He lauded the author’s efforts and praised the role of authors/writers in shaping society’s future. The CEC thanked the Writers Association Kargil for recognizing Yaseen Ansari’s literary work and for organizing the book release event.

Dr. Akhoon reiterated the Hill Council’s commitment to prioritizing local literature and aims to provide the writers an equal opportunity and platform to present their work. He encouraged local writers to share their suggestions for the overall growth of the literary circle in the region.

The CEC assured the audience of continued support from the Hill Council to strengthen the local writers. CEC Kargil termed Yaseen Ansari’s books as a treasure for the coming writers and researchers who are interested in local culture and languages.

At the event, the CEC announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh for the writer’s association from his untied fund in the upcoming 2025-26 budget.

Councillor Altaf Hussain also announced Rs 20,000 as a token of appreciation along with Rs 30,000 by the president of All Kargil Hotel Association, Rangul Ali to Yaseen Ansari.

Later, Yaseen Ansari shared his experiences and reflections on writing the books and highlighted the importance of literature in society. He thanked CEC Kargil for attending the book release function despite his busy schedule.
