Cabinet Secretary reviews development, flagship Programmes

SRINAGAR: Chairing the joint meeting of Union Secretaries and State Administrative Secretaries at SKICC here, Cabinet Secretary Ajit Kumar Seth today assured full central support to the State Government for comprehensive development adding that Union Government is keen to see Jammu and Kashmir progressing in all development sectors.
Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal heading the state team in the meeting expressed gratitude to the union government for extending liberal financial support to the State for achieving development goals. He said that the meetings with Union Secretaries during their current visit to the State have been highly fruitful and number of issues were discussed and addressed in these meetings.
The Cabinet Secretary took brief on the status of centrally sponsored schemes and flag ship programs and complemented the State Government for progress on these schemes emphasizing on timeline completion of physical and financial targets.
The meeting discussed education, power, health, tourism, roads and railways, agricultural, MSME, horticulture, industries etc and programmes concerning the development of backward and poorer sections of the society. Matters relating to the protection of environment, pollution control and afforestation also came up for discussion.
The issues pertaining to Skill development, training and employability of youth in various sectors were also deliberated upon during the review meetings.
Strengthening of Panchat Raj at three levels and transfer of power and resources to panchayats and capacity building of members were also discussed in detail.
The meeting was attended by Union Secretaries Mr. Alok Rawat, Secretary, Coordination; Mr. S. Ramadorai, Advisor to the Prime Minister (Skill Development), Mrs. Sudha Pillai, Secretary, Planning Commission, Mr. Prem Narain, Senior Advisor, Planning Commission; Mr. R. K. Singh, Home Secretary, Mr. R. H. Khwaja, Secretary Tourism, Ms. Anshu Vaish, Secretary, School Education and Literacy; Mr. Rakesh Kacker, Secretary, Food Processing, Mr. Rudra Gangadharan, Secretary, Animal Husbandry; Mr. Sudhir Krishna, Secretary, Urban Development; Dr. Mrutyunjay Sarangi, Secretary, Labour and Employment, Mr. B. K. Sinha, Secretary, Rural Development; Mr. Vinay Mittal, Chairman, Railway Board; Mr. P. Uma Shankar, Secretary Power, and Mr. Ashok Thakur, Special Secretary, Higher Education, Principal Secretaries Iqbal Khanday, B.B Vyas, B.R Sharma, K.B Agarwal, Commissioner Secretaries and other senior officers.
