JAMMU, DECEMBER 29: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today sought cooperation of all the political parties for smooth conduct of the upcoming Budget Session scheduled to commence here on 2 January 2017.
Chairing a meeting of the leaders and chief whips of various political parties here today, the Speaker hoped that the members would judiciously utilize the time allotted to them to highlight the issues of public interest in a democratic manner.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri, Legislators, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, M Y Tarigami, Sat Paul Sharma, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Rajesh Gupta and Bashir Ahmad Dar were present in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the Speaker said that adequate opportunity will be given to each political party to raise and project the issues of public importance. He appealed the members to highlight developmental needs besides other important public interest matters for detailed discussion during the course of the session.
The Speaker impressed upon the Legislators not to disrupt the Question Hour which is considered as the most important procedure to make the Government answerable to the people.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs assured the meeting that the Government will make all out efforts to respond to the issues raised by the members during the session. He assured them that the issues raised in the House will be provided with detailed reply and steps taken by the government to resolve the same.
The legislators gave their suggestions with regard to smooth conduct of house business and response of the government on vital issues of public importance. They also assured to extend full cooperation to run the house in a cordial manner.
The legislators suggested for increasing the duration of the session to enable the house to discuss maximum public issues.
Secretary Legislative Assembly, M. Ramzan and other Senior Officers of Assembly Secretariat were also present on the occasion.
