Residents of several areas in Srinagar, including Press Colony and Abi Guzar, have been facing disruptions in BSNL’s fibre-based internet services for the last two weeks. The outage has caused significant inconvenience to both residential and commercial users, who rely heavily on high-speed internet for work, education, and communication.

According to locals, the disruption began earlier this week, with users reporting a complete loss of connectivity or severely degraded speeds.

Residents of Press Colony, a hub for journalists and media professionals, have been particularly vocal about the outage. “In today’s digital age, a reliable internet connection is essential. This disruption has hampered our ability to meet deadlines and stay connected with the outside world,” said a local journalist in Abi Guzar.

Similarly, businesses in Abi Guzar, a commercial area, have reported losses due to the inability to process online transactions or communicate with clients. “We rely on the internet for everything from inventory management to customer support. This outage has brought our operations to a standstill,” said a shop owner.

After repeated complaints we are assured that efforts are underway to restore services at the earliest. However, no specific timeline has been provided for when normalcy will return.

Customers are hopeful that BSNL will address the issue promptly and take measures to prevent such disruptions in the future.
