Boycott Toppers, Voting Toppers of Kashmir in Indian Parliamentary Elections 2014

With the end of voting in Baramulla Parliamentary Polls the elections for Lok Sabha 2014 in Kashmir came to an end. With an element of violence, massive pro- freedom protests in different areas of Kashmir, brisk voting in some areas the poll presented a mix bag picture.

One witnessed many boycott areas which set their own records in terms of electoral boycott .Boycott rankings were captured by constituencies from South to North to Central Kashmir. Tral, a South Kashmir picturesque militant cum pro-freedom bastion constituency created its own record in boycott with just 0.8 Percent turnout and thus emerged as the top boycott zone of Kashmir .On second number was followed the bastion of prominent face of Pro-freedom movement Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s Sopore with just 1 Percent turnout , and on number third was the famous boycott constituency of Srinagar and JKLF Bastion Habbakadal with 3 Percent voter turnout .
The fourth ranking in boycott was surprisingly taken by Pulwama at 4.10 Percent and fifth ranking was taken by Shia Muslim influenced Zadibal Constituency at 4.97 percent.
On the other hand, Noorabad in District Kulgam the constituency represented by Sakina Ittoo , the prominent women face of Ruling National Conference topped the poll percentage at 72 percent. While as Border Constituency Karnah of Kupwara District at second polled 70 percent, Kupwara witnessed 69 percent at third position, Handwara at fourth place saw a turnout of about 67 percent. While Kangan and Chrar i-Sharif respectively stood at fifth place by polling 65 percent each.
