BJP’S Constantly Growing Influence in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 6(KMW): Bharatiya Janata Party ruling party at the Centre in India and also coalition partner of Jammu and Kashmir Government has over the past few years taken long strides in the Muslim Majority Kashmir Valley which is also viewed as a world’s volatile conflict zone.
Few years back it was unthinkable that BJP will ever get any foothills in Kashmir on account of it being dubbed as right wing Hindutva party .

A few time back the number of members BJP had in Kashmir could be counted on finger tips. But now this membership has grown by leaps and bounds .Pertinently, according to BJP it has currently more than three lac members in Kashmir with 50000 alone in downtown Srinagar considered to be hotbed of pro-freedom polity.
“We have an impressive number of growing memberships in Kashmir and as of moment we have 3.3 lac members affiliated with BJP in Kashmir, states Altaf Thakur, prominent face of BJP in Kashmiri while talking exclusively to Kashmir Media watch.

BJP’s growing influence in Kashmir can be gauged from the fact that in last Assembly elections conducted few months back BJP contested on more than 70 percent assembly constituencies on its own. The BJP contested 34 of the 46 seats in the Kashmir Valley.
For the first time ever BJP bagged thousands of votes from Kashmir valley with professionals from all diverse backgrounds contesting on the party ticket.
In Amirakadal Constituency heart of Kashmir politics, BJP women Candidate Hina Shafi Bhat bagged 1359 votes, At gateway of Kashmir Anantnag constituency BJP managed 1275 , In volatile assembly constituency of North Kashmir Bandipora BJP Bagged 565 , Batmaloo considered stronghold of Profreedom Struggle BJP got 1365 , At prestigious Beerwah Assembly constituency BJP Bagged 1142 votes, at Center of Kashmir Budgam Assembly constituency BJP bagged 880, Charar-i-sharief BJP Bagged 845, Devsar BJP Bagged 3 882 votes, Dooru BJP bagged 1030 votes , At another prestigious constituency Ganderbal BJP bagged 671 votes, Habbakadal home of many profreedom leaders BJP here bagged impressive 2596 votes , At Hazratbal constituency part of Downtown Srinagar BJP bagged impressive 2635 votes , Hom Shali Bugh, stronghold of profreedom politics in South Kashmir BJP bagged 1527 votes,. At high voter turnout Kangan BJP bagged 583 votes, at frontier Karnah constituency BJP bagged 654 votes , at heart of Downtown Srinagar Khanyar Assembly constituency BJP bagged 550 votes, at famous south Kashmir resort of Kokernag Assembly constituency BJP bagged 1842 votes , Kugam BJP bagged 1944 votes, Kupwara BJP bagged 790 votes, Langate BJP bagged 523 votes, at world famous tourist resort Lolab Assembly constituency BJP bagged 1092 votes ,At Noorabad Assembly constituency in South Kashmir BJP Bagged 648 votes, At picturesque Pahagam Assembly constituency BJP bagged 1943 votes, Puwama BJP bagged 672 votes, Rafiabad BJP bagged 634 votes , Shangus BJP bagged 2275 votes, In Jamaate Islami Bastion Shopian Assembly constituenct BJP bagged 1384 votes, Sonawar BJP bagged 1100 votes In the militant stornghold of TRAL BJP bagged 2945 votes.
In border constituency of URI BJP bagged 1269 votes, In Wachi BJP bagged 1047 votes, BJP bagged and 360 votes in Zadibal Assembly Constituency part of downtown Srinagar.
A political Analyst, while talking to Kashmir Media Watch states -“BJP Over the years has shown constant upward trend and at one time of history having negligible members and very few assembly constituencies being contested by BJP on account of virtually no enthusiastic candidates the party now has scores of members in Kashmir with aspiring contestants from each Assembly constituency.”
Undoubtedly, the influence of BJP has constantly grown in the last few years in the volatile Kashmir valley.
