Jammu: Bharatiya Janata Party today advocated winding up of a Cabinet Sub-Committee (CSC) set up to study Justice Sagheer Ahmed Working Group’s report on the relationship between the Central and Jammu and Kashmir governments.

“We call for immediate winding up of CSC which is a wasteful liability on the state exchequer designed only to play a cruel joke on the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” BJP chief spokesperson and member national executive committee Jitendra Singh in a statement issued here said.

Dr Singh’s reaction came to the state government’s order extending the term of CSC for three more months.

“Ever since Congress-led UPA government set up five working groups, including Justice Sagheer Ahmed Group in 2006 and subsequent submission of Justice Sagheer Ahmed report in 2009, there has been an unnecessary political discord on the issue and even after the unfortunate passing away of Justice Sagheer Ahmed, the report associated with his name continues to stir a hornet’s nest because even the ruling coalition parties, namely the NC and Congress are politically constrained to hold divergent issues,” he added.

The BJP spokesperson said there is not a single provision in the Constitution of India which is not of benefit to the common people of the state, irrespective of whether they belong to Jammu or Ladakh or Kashmir regions. (KMW News)
