New Delhi: Alleging that there was a huge land scam worth over Rs 1,000 crore involving Defence establishment in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP today demanded cancellation of all the transfers and to bring back the ownership of all 69 pieces of defence land in the name of the Defence Ministry and hold a full-fledged investigation.
In a letter addressed to Defence Minister A K Antony, BJP leaders highlighted the grab of 200 acres of Air Force land near a sensitive security zone in Srinagar by two land mafias in connivance with the Revenue and Defence officials.
“Shocking as it may sound, India’s most security-sensitive airfield the Srinagar Air Force Station and International Airport has been on sale for the past many years, and till recently nobody knew about it”, BJP leaders Kirit Somaiya, J&K BJP President Shamsher Singh Manhas, former Delhi Finance Minister Jagdish Mukhi, MLA and Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Punj said in the letter.
