Big blow for Sri Lanka as key pacer ruled out of final Bangladesh ODI

Chattogram, Sri Lanka, Mar 18 Dilshan Madushanka has been ruled out of the ongoing one-day international series against Bangladesh after sustaining injury during the second ODI.

The left-arm pacer left the field during the 27th over of Bangladesh’s innings, departing after completing 6.4 overs of bowling. Janith Liyanage bowled the remaining two balls of Madushanka’s incomplete over.Sri Lanka Cricket revealed that the pacer would begin his rehabilitation work after an MRI scan confirmed a left hamstring injury.

“Dilshan Madushanka will not further take part in the ongoing tour as the bowler will return to start rehabilitation work after suffering an injury during the 2nd ODI,” SLC announced on social media.“Madushanka, who left the field during the second ODI while bowling, has suffered a left hamstring injury, as confirmed by an MRI scan performed on the player.

”The left-arm pacer picked up two wickets apiece in both the ODIs, including two big wickets of Bangladesh opener Litton Das (0) and the series opener’s centurion Najmul Hossain Shanto (40) in the second ODI.Bangladesh won the first ODI by six wickets courtesy of Shanto’s unbeaten 122. Sri Lanka fought their way back in the next outing, securing a close three-wicket win thanks to Pathum Nissanka’s composed 114.

Madushanka is anticipated to be sidelined for several weeks. Sri Lanka has not yet named a replacement.
