Jammu: Hundreds of students today boycotted their classes and staged a massive demonstration over Bhaderwah clashes in this winter capital of the state.
Amid slogans, students of Government Gandhi Memorial Science College this morning boycotted their classes and forcibly suspended the college functioning in protest against the Bhaderwah clashes in which four students were injured yesterday.
Tensioned gripped the Bhaderwah town of Doda District yesterday when two groups of students entered into a clash over some alleged ‘objectionable’ words of the History teacher while delivering a lecture in the class.
However, students under the banner of National Panthers Student Union (NPSU) after boycotting the classes, blocked the busiest Canal Road, thus putting the traffic to a halt for more than a hour.
Students alleged that some vested elements raked up the issue to create communal tension in the area. But their nefarious designs would not bear fruit, they said.
Traffic resumed later when police dispersed the protestors
