Begum Khalida Shah unanimously elected as Party President For Next 3 Years: ANC

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference held its day long Central Working Committee meeting at Jammu 29th.Nov.2011, which was attended by all the working committee members and special invitees from all over the State. Party President Begum Khalida Shah was unanimously elected as Party President by voice vote as the President of the Party for another three years. The new look party flag with new design and colours was adopted by the working committee and unfurled by the president Begum Khalida Shah at this historical meeting.
Mr. Muzaffar Shah, Sr. Vice President, JKANC tabled Political and Economic resolutions at the meet and after discussion, these resolutions were put to vote and passed unanimously.
In her Presidential address, Begum Khalida Shah, said that efforts should be speeded up for holding Intra Kashmir Conference for Peace and Solution. J&K shall act as a bridge between India and Pakistan. Expressing concern and anguish at growing Human Rights violations, she said that wanton killings cannot be allowed to continue. Now the time has come when people should collectively strive for peace and for a peaceful, secure and prosperous future, she said. She also launched a fresh membership drive and set a target of 3 lakh members within next 6 to 12 months. She urged the District Presidents to take the membership drive to village and mohalla levels.
Talking about special powers to Armed Forces, Begum Khalida Shah, criticized the State Chief Minister for running to the Armed Forces Chief for seeking the revocation of AFSPA. She questioned whether we still live in a Democratic set up?.It is time that serious thought be given over this issue and no politics be allowed to be played over this issue. The central Government, the State Government and the heads of our Armed forces have failed to deal with this matter realistically and as per the laws prescribed. Time has come to do way with all the draconian laws in the state.
Mr. Muzaffar Shah, Sr. Vice President JKANC, speaking at the meeting said that District Presidents shall Head the RTI cells of JKANC at their respective Districts and seek information from Government Officials for the issues falling within their Districts. ANC has launched a crusade against corruption and the same will be carried forward and protest marches will be held at District Head quarters throughout the state on 15th Dec.2011.
Prominent speakers included Latief Ahmad Khan, Abdul Gani Naseem, Pushpa Dogra, Neelam Thapa, Advocate Mohammad Shafi Mir, Bodh Raj Kotwal, Sardar Joginder Singh Raina, Ghulam Ahmad Dar, Sant Ram, Mohammad Shafi Khan, Vijay Kumar Mangotr and concluded with Ghulam Qadir Wani , who all spoke on the issues confronting the state and expressed the view that ANC today is ready to provide a clean , efficient and an upright political alternative in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The working committee finalized the programme for District Conventions, Mass Contact Programmes, Membership Drive, issuance of 20,000 identity cards, formulation of provincial committees and steps towards campaign against corruption.
