Azad reviews progress on SSHs in J&K

NEW DELHI: – Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad, on Friday chaired a meeting to review the progress on upcoming Super Specialty Hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir.

Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, Youth Services & Sports, R S Chib was present in the meeting.
The Commissioner Secretary, Health & Medical Education, M.K. Diwedi, who was also present in the meeting, briefly explained various aspects regarding completion of infrastructure, installation of equipments and availability of specialized manpower to run these hospitals effectively.
Union Minister impressed upon the State Government to initiate steps to engage Senior qualified Super Specialists in order to provide best medicare to the needy patients. He also directed the concerned agencies i.e. CPWD and HLL authorities to make up the pending deficiencies at the earliest. He further said that in order to overcome the shortage of faculty in the medical colleges of the State, it has become mandatory to enhance the retirement age of the existing Faculty to prevent exodus as has been done in other states of the country. Besides, steps need to be taken to hire Super Specialists from outside the State on contractual basis by giving them additional allowances under the rules.
The meeting among others was attended by P K Pradhan, Union Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Keshav Desiraju, Special Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Sandeep Kumar Naik, Joint Secretary and representatives from CPWD and HLL. (KMW News)
