Avalanche killed one, injured another in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 23 (KMW): One person was killed and another injured after being caught in an avalanche in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, official sources said here today.

They said a group of villagers had gone to Poshkher forest, Kangan, in Ganderbal district to collect fire wood. However, when they were busy collecting wood, the avalanche hit the area, they said, adding that two people were buried.

Later, one of them died, while another was rescued and shifted to a hospital.

He said the power supply will remain suspended from 0900 hrs to 1700 hrs.
