PPP demands his immediate release.
Srinagar: People’s Political Party (PPP) Chairman Engineer Hilal War has expressed deep concern and anguish over the fresh drive of Police to arrest and harass youths from different parts of Srinagar City especially Maisuma Locality of Lal-Chowk and Down-Town areas of Srinagar City.
Mr. War condemned in strong words the unjustified arrest and detention of Roman Yousuf Alias Aashkee of Maisuma and demanded his immediate release, who was arrested by the police yesterday evening while he was sitting with his friends at Pratap Park in Srinagar City.
“How can police be so cruel and high-handed that they don’t even spare a bunch of Youth enjoying their leisure time in a public park”, said Mr. War.
Mr. War further stated that “many recent actions of Police smell of some mischievous conspiracy because we know there are various elements in Intelligence Agencies and Police who make millions out of the troubled situations that arise out of such drives. I suspect that a section of police is hell bent upon pushing the youth towards militancy”, said War, adding that many actions by the present SHO Maisuma were totally uncalled for and it looked that he is on some very ugly mission which would not only keep Maisuma on boil but would also spread the fire to other areas ”
