Chief Gen. V.K. Singh concluded his two-day visit of Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday after having assessed the ground situation in the state where the terrorists and their supporters may be planning to disrupt the fragile peace.

The year 2010 began on a very optimistic note but midway there were unprecedented troubles on the streets of Kashmir which disrupted the normal life and resulted in the death of over 100 people. The army had to be called in to restore order.
Similar threat, the sources told IANS, is looming large over the current year.
Gen. Singh undertook an in-depth review of the situation in border areas and also took stock of the internal security scenario. He stressed for a ‘greater vigil’, according to the sources.
It was felt that the ‘threats have not diminished and the army will have to play its role in fighting the terrorists,’ a source said.
