Kargil, April 07: Department of Tourism Kargil today organized the second program of Apricot Blossom Festival in Darchiks village under the banner of 3rd Apricot Blossom Festival.
Assistant Tourist Officer, Rasool Lal, Officers from Indian Army, Incharge Police Post Darchiks, Abdul Qayum, Executive Engineer, CPWD Leh Mohan Lal, Assistant Engineer, Ratnakar Pandey (CPWD) Leh and Vice Principal Government High School Silmo, Nawang Sherpa national and international tourists, vloggers, villagers, folk artists were present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Assistant Tourist Officer Kargil emphasized the significance of these culturally enriching programs and highlighted the potential for tourism in regions like these, where diversity in language, culture, and ethnicity stands out uniquely in the world.
He said that the District Administration is committed to extend all possible support to push for the export of apricots to national and international markets.
Vice Principal, Silmo High School, Nawang Sherpa, briefly highlighted the historical, cultural and geographical background of the Aryan belt.
The event also featured captivating cultural performances, showcasing a diverse array of talents. These included traditional Aryan folk traditional dance by Darchiks, Garkone folk traditional dance by both male and female artists, Hordass, Rsuray, and Yaldur female artists’ traditional dance performances, Jabro dance by young female artists of the Arts and Culture organization, Ladakhi modern dance by students of High School Garkone students, Ladakhi and Aryan songs by Angchuk a famous singer, traditional song about history by Folk Singers of Sanatsey Hamlet, Deachen Chuskit’s performance of her famous song “Skeyul Aryan”, presentation of a famous Aryan song by Nawang Sharap, a lecturer and Angchuk, a singer from Darchiks.
Apricot Blossom Festival is being held across Union Territory of Ladakh from April 06 to April 18, during which visitors witness the mesmerizing visual delight of apricot trees.
