Srinagar: The ruling National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir today asked Pakistan to apologise to the people of the state for the tribal invasion in 1947.
Chief spokesperson of the NC Dr Mustafa Kamaal in a statement here this afternoon said that Pakistan government owes an apology to the people of the state for the historical wrong it has committed in 1947 which led Jammu and Kashmir to the catastrophe of uncertainty.
This, he said however, could not be undone even by three subsequent wars between India and Pakistan.
”I had two years earlier in August 2009, asked Pakistan to tender an apology to the people of the state, when Pakistan government had pleaded guilty for claiming Kashmir on communal line,” said Dr Kamaal, uncle of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and brother of Union minister Dr Farooq Abdullah.
Reacting to the statement of Pakistan’s former Air Force Chief Air Chief (Retd) Asgar Khan, Dr Kamal said Khan deserves a pat on the back for unfolding the reality and reason which led Jammu and Kashmir state to accede to India in 1947.
He said that Khan’s statement that the Tribal Invasion of 1947 had compelled Maharaja Hari Singh to change his mind and accede to India, was the only correct version of the accession story and the rest around it, is the concoction subscribed by fictitious forces for their day to day survival.
He said that by creating fictions around the real story of the accession, the selfish forces play a blame game against NC, the founder organisation for leading the Kashmir Independence Movement and Quit Kashmir Movement.
He further said that over the years, every attempt has been made to hoodwink the youth in Kashmir and misle them on the subject.
Now that the reality has come to the fore through horse’s mouth, one can expect for a substantial change sufficient to overcome dichotomic approach of the wicked forces on the accession story.
The chief spokesman of the NC has said he once again advised the separatist leadership to shun the negative politics and understand the fact that Pakistan is on the path of geographical and political realism with regards to the future of Jammu and Kashmir.
It is now imperative upon all of us to build Naya Kashmir ”internally autonomous” as it existed in 1952 and work together for creation of resources enough to accommodate all State Subjects living in Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu regions, Dr Kamal said.
