Ansari’s defiance: Hurriyat (M) to wait for IuM response

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Saturday said that the amalgam would wait for a response to the show cause notice to its ally, Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen which was suspended after its patron Moulana Muhammad Abbas Ansari met New Delhi appointed interlocutors in contravention to conglomerates collective decision to boycott them.  “We have decided to wait for a response to the show notice issued to Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen and move forward with farsightedness and wholeheartedly on the issue,” Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said in a statement here to after the executive council meeting of the amalgam here. On April 21 last, Mirwaiz had darted notice to the IuM head asking him to explain why the party violated the “collective decision” of not meeting the New Delhi appointed interlocutors.As chairman of the amalgam, Mirwaiz had issued notice to head of IuM, Masroor Abbas Ansari, seeking an explanation from him about his father Moulana Abbas Ansari’s meeting with the three member New Delhi panel headed by journalist Dileep Padgonkar.  IuM is among the founder constituents of Hurriyat Conference and one of the parties which have representatives in the highest decision-making body, the Executive Committee.  Abbas Ansari was also the chairman of the Hurriyat Conference.  With Mirwaiz in chair, the meeting was attended by Professor Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, Aga Syed Al Mousvi Al Safvi, Moulana Mohammad Abdullah Tari, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and Musadiq Adil.  In an apparent reference to the media reports quoting Abbas Ansari that the chairman can’t suspend its constituents but Majlis-e-Shura, Mirwaiz said, “Chairman enjoys discretionary powers which he can use according to the requirements.”  The executive members also called for unity among the various constituents and vowed to maintain it at all costs.Meanwhile, the amalgam said that it would support all efforts aimed to make conducive atmosphere for resolution of issue between India and Pakistan.
