Ansari-interlocutors meeting: Hurriyat (M) discuss IuM reply

Srinagar: Maulana Abbas Ansari’s reply to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat’s show cause notice came under discussion at an executive council meeting of the amalgam on Thursday.According to a spokesman, the executive council members— Bilal Gani Lone, Proffessor Abdul Gani Bhat, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Mukhtar Waza, Musadiq Adil  and Ghulam Mohammad Nakoo— after deliberations over Ansari’s response said that the decision to suspend the Itihad-ul-Muslimeen was “a collective one” and any future decision taken in this regard would also be taken in the same manner.“ The members also reiterated that a purposeful dialogue would only be possible if the real Kashmiri leadership  is included in the Indo-Pak talks and Hurriyat Conference would support any dialogue process which is held at a decision making level,” the spokesman said.The amalgam said that the status of interlocutors was nothing more than a “committee”, empowered only to issue recommendations.“ At the time of the appointment of the three interlocutors, the Hurriyat Conference had made it clear that there would be no talks with them . Our stand is that if India is sincere in talks it must accept the recommendations put forth by the Hurriyat,” the amalgam said.Flaying the working scheme of the interlocutors, the amalgam said “their policy of tearing apart the unity of Kashmiris by trying to create divisions on sectarian and communal lines seems as if efforts are on to show the majority of Kashmiris as against the freedom movement.”“ Instead of resolving issues, the interlocutors seem to be keen on making them complex.”
