Another by pass to ease traffic pressure on Srinagar city

Srinagar, (KMW News): In order to reduce traffic pressure on the summer capital city, Srinagar, the government has proposed another Motor Way (By pass) from Galandar in south to Narbal in north Kashmir on the highway.

The proposed bypass, which will cost Rs 1068, will ease the traffic pressure in the city, where traffic jams for hours, particuarly at Pantha Chowk, starting point of present bypass, was a daily routine, affecting travellers.

Official sources said that concerned over the traffic jams, the government has decided to construct the motor way, which will cost Rs 1068 crore. Out of which Rs 630 crore will be for development, Rs 415 crore for the acquisition of 4155 kanals of land and Rs 23 crore for raising structures.

The proposed bye pass will pass through different areas in Pulwama, Srinagar and Baramulla districts, including Kandizal Railway Crossing Sutsichthoo Chatergam, Bugam, Chadoora, Gundsuthoo, Ichgam, Budgam, Safdan Railway Crossing, Dharmuna Gagarpora and Narbal.

They said the government has already issued instructions to officers concerned for removing of the bottlenecks to execute this mega project soon, so that the present traffic pressure on the Srinagar city may be reduced and the passengers feel comfortable.
