Jammu: A fresh batch of 3,280 pilgrims today left for Kashmir to have darshans of ‘ice-lingam’ at the holy cave shrine of Amarnath from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas base camp here amid tight security arrangements.
“Another batch of total 3,280 pilgrims comprising 2,124 male, 808 female, 76 children and 272 sadhu left for the Amarnath in a convoy of 131 vehicles at around 0500 hrs,” a police spokesman here told.
He said 43 state road buses, 28 private, two trucks and 58 light motor vehicles left for the cave from the base camp.
Official sources said about 2.4 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at the cave shrine so far.
